Challenge & Outcome
The Situation
First-time users of this electric breast pump were struggling with existing documentation — dense blocks of unstructured text with no visual hierarchy and no clear sequence from unboxing to first use.
The Problem
Safety warnings were buried inside running paragraphs, assembly steps had zero illustration support, and the layout's generic aesthetic failed to reflect the brand's premium, nurturing identity.
The Brief
Redesign the complete manual from scratch — restructuring all content into a branded system, creating over 18 custom technical illustrations, and building a design language that matched 4MOMMY DELUXE's premium positioning.
The Outcome
The redesigned manual delivered a significantly improved first-use experience, reduced setup-related support contacts, and elevated the brand's premium positioning at the moment of unboxing. Print-ready InDesign source files were delivered with a multi-language layout structure built for EU market distribution.
How We Did It
A full UX audit of the existing manual was conducted — identifying the core failure points: dense paragraph text, buried safety warnings, and zero visual support for any assembly or operation steps.
A soft-pink and white colour system was developed around the product's brand language, replacing the generic layout with a design system that reflected the brand's premium, nurturing identity.
18+ custom technical illustrations were created — including an exploded-view parts diagram, step-by-step assembly sequences, operation mode guides, and a cleaning and sterilising walkthrough.
Content was restructured into 8 clearly labelled sections with icon-based dividers, building a logical user journey from unboxing through to routine use and care.
A detachable quick-start insert card was designed for inside-the-box placement — delivering an immediate first-use confidence boost at the critical moment of unboxing.
