EU FIC Regulation 1169/2011 applies directly; labels must be in Czech for domestic retail. Unlike Germany and several neighbours, the Czech Republic has actively opposed mandatory EU-wide adoption of Nutri-Score front-of-pack labelling, a position vindicated when the European Commission abandoned plans for mandatory Nutri-Score across the EU in March 2025 — Nutri-Score badges remain optional here and should not be assumed present on Czech-market packaging. The EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR, Regulation (EU) 2025/40) applies from 12 August 2026. Pharmaceutical packaging is regulated by SÚKL (State Institute for Drug Control), which governs marketing authorisation, labelling and patient-information-leaflet content; Prague-headquartered Zentiva, one of Europe's largest generic-drug manufacturers, is among the largest domestic filers. Becherovka's protected status runs through the EU's spirit-drinks geographical indication register (Regulation (EU) 2019/787) under the registered name 'Karlovarská Hořká.'
