Brand identity design is the creation of the complete visual language a brand uses across every touchpoint — from its logo to its packaging, from its website to its business cards. A strong brand identity is immediately recognisable, communicates the brand's values and personality at a glance, and maintains consistency across every medium it appears in. The core elements of a brand identity include: the logo suite (primary logo, submark, favicon), the colour palette (primary and secondary colours with Pantone, CMYK, RGB, and HEX specifications), the typography system (display typeface, body typeface, and usage hierarchy), iconography style, photography and imagery direction, and a set of usage rules documented in brand guidelines.
Logo suite: primary logo, alternate layouts, submark, favicon, and mono versions in all colour variants (full colour, dark, light/white, mono). Colour palette with Pantone, CMYK, RGB, and HEX codes for every colour. Typography system with primary display font, secondary body font, and a hierarchy usage guide. Iconography: a custom icon set (or curated icon library recommendation). Photography/imagery direction: moodboard and sourcing guide. Pattern or brand texture (where applicable). Application mockups: business card, social media profile, packaging concept, website header — showing the identity in context. Brand guidelines document: 20–40 page PDF covering all of the above plus usage rules and do/don't examples.
Brand identity design divorced from strategy produces beautiful visuals that miss their market. Our process begins with a brand strategy session: we map your brand's positioning on competitive axes, define your target audience persona, clarify your brand's personality (approachable vs. authoritative, minimalist vs. expressive), and identify the visual codes your competitors are using so we can differentiate. This strategy input directly shapes every design decision — why we choose a particular typeface, why we select warm vs. cool tones, why the logo uses a geometric vs. organic form.
For product brands — consumer goods, food and beverage, supplements, cosmetics — the most critical application of brand identity is packaging. A brand identity designed without packaging in mind frequently fails when applied to a box, label, or pouch. Our brand identity process for product brands includes packaging-specific considerations: how the logo reproduces at 15mm wide on a label, how the primary colour palette renders in flexographic printing CMYK on different substrates, how the typography system works at small scale on a Supplement Facts panel, and how the identity extends across a multi-SKU product range without each SKU looking like a different brand.
All brand assets created in your project transfer to you in full on final payment. You receive full intellectual property rights, production source files in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop formats, an export folder with every format you'll ever need (SVG, PDF, EPS, PNG, JPG), and a brand guidelines document to ensure consistent application by your team, agencies, and suppliers. We recommend trademarking your logo in your primary market after delivery.
Startups building a brand identity from scratch have different needs from established companies undertaking a rebrand. For startups, speed and flexibility are paramount: the identity must work across digital channels immediately, scale to packaging and print later, and communicate a clear positioning in a competitive category. For rebrands, we audit the existing identity: what has brand equity (should be evolved, not discarded), what is outdated or inconsistent, and what new market positioning needs to be communicated. We adapt the process and deliverables for each scenario.
Global brands must consider how their visual identity reads across cultures. Colour carries different associations: white signifies mourning in parts of East Asia; red signals luck in China but danger in Western contexts. Typography must support multiple scripts if the brand will appear in Arabic, Cyrillic, Japanese, or other non-Latin markets. We advise on colour and symbol sensitivity for your target markets and recommend Unicode-compliant typeface families that support multilingual brand applications.
Brand identity success metrics: unaided brand recognition rate (can customers identify the brand from visual elements alone?), brand consistency score (percentage of branded touchpoints applying the identity correctly), Net Promoter Score changes post-rebrand, and earned media coverage of the brand launch. We provide a 90-day post-delivery review offer to assess how the identity has been applied and address any inconsistencies before they become habits.
