Arm blood pressure monitor user manual — medically compliant, patient-accessible documentation for healthcare retail distribution.

VitaeChek needed a user manual for their arm blood pressure monitor that would serve patients of varying technical ability — from first-time users to experienced home monitoring patients — across retail distribution channels.
The manual had to guide users through correct cuff fitting, measurement procedure, reading interpretation, memory management, and device maintenance while meeting medical device consumer documentation standards for retail.
Design a clear, compliant user manual with step-by-step cuff fitting and measurement illustrations using anatomical references, error code tables, battery and memory management guides, and typography optimised for cardiovascular patients.
The manual delivered accessible, compliance-aligned documentation that supported VitaeChek's retail distribution strategy and provided patients with a clear, trustworthy reference for accurate home blood pressure monitoring.
A detailed review of the arm blood pressure monitor's operation and medical device documentation requirements was conducted — mapping patient user journeys from unboxing through first measurement and ongoing daily use.
Cuff fitting and measurement procedure illustrations were developed using anatomical references — ensuring users of all physical builds could correctly position the cuff for accurate, reliable blood pressure readings.
Error code reference tables, battery installation guides, and memory management instructions were structured for easy in-use reference, designed for patients who may need to access specific sections quickly.
Safety and contraindication warnings were formatted with appropriate medical device hierarchy — distinguishing critical safety instructions from general usage guidance and maintenance best practices throughout.
Typography and layout were optimised for patients managing cardiovascular health conditions, using high-contrast accessible type, clear numbering, and short actionable steps across all procedural sections.

“Patients now use the device correctly from day one. The clarity of the manual directly improves measurement accuracy in the field.”
